All Schools In Cachar To Remain Closed Till June 8 Amid Flood Crisis; Classes To Resume On June 9
In view of the worsening flood situation and continued waterlogging across several parts of Cachar district, the district administration has announced an extension of school closures till June 8, 2025. The decision comes as many school buildings are currently being used as relief shelters for flood-affected residents.
An official order issued by the office of the Additional District Magistrate states that all educational institutions—including government, provincialised, private, and venture schools—will remain closed on Friday, June 6. The directive builds on an earlier order dated June 3, which had initially declared a temporary closure due to inclement weather.
With Saturday, June 7, being a government-declared holiday for Idd-uz-Zuha and Sunday being a regular weekend holiday, schools across Cachar will now reopen on Monday, June 9.
The administration said the extension is a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and to allow uninterrupted relief operations for flood victims. The order, approved by the District Magistrate, has been issued with immediate effect.
The information was shared through a press release issued by the Regional Office of Information and Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone, Silchar.
