Three deaths, two bikes, one accident and zero witnesses. Tragedy struck on Saturday, January 13, around 9:00 pm near Badribasti when a father-son duo returning from Sankranti shopping in Silchar met an unfortunate fate, resulting in their untimely demise. The accident claimed the lives of three individuals, leaving a community in sorrow.

The incident involved two bikes, leading to the deaths of Binoy Bhusan Dutta, a 64-year-old former employee of Palorbond tea garden, and his 24-year-old son, Biraj Dutta. Biraj, the sole earner in the household recently posted in a grade 3 job, was the only son of the family. The third victim, Sikandar Ali Choudhary (34 years old), was also returning from Silchar to his home in Uzan Tarapur.

Tragically, the details surrounding the accident remain unclear as no witnesses came forward. Speculation suggests a larger vehicle might have been involved, causing the fatal collision. Upon Discovering three of them severely injured along NH-37, the locals alerted authorities, leading to their transportation to Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

Despite efforts, Sikandar Ali Choudhary succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital. Biraj Dutta passed away that night, while Binoy Bhusan Dutta succumbed the next morning. The entire Palorbond community mourns the loss of this father-son duo, as does Uzan Tarapur for Sikandar Ali Choudhury.

On Sunday, January 14, after postmortem examinations, the police returned the bodies to their respective grieving families. Ongoing investigations aim to unravel the circumstances of the tragedy, providing some semblance of justice for the bereaved. As the community grapples with the devastating loss amid Sankranti celebrations, the hope remains for answers and closure.
