Alleged lynch case culprit arrested along with brother, locals demonstrate in font of Udharbond Thana
Two people have been arrested in connection with the alleged lynching of a daily wager in Udharbond. The main accused was arrested along with his brother. The body of the deceased has also been brought to Udharbond after postmortem at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The family members of the deceased had staged a demonstration outside the Udharbond Police Station to demand the arrest of all the culprits.
On December 13, when Hira Bauri, a daily wager didn’t report to work, his employer Tamiz Uddin alias Ataur Rahman went to his home and asked him to join work. When Hira Bauri refused, Tamiz alias Ataur dragged him out of his home and allegedly beat him to death along with his brothers. Based on the FIR, the Udharbond Police arrested two individuals last night. One of them is Ataur Rahman, who is allegedly the main accused in this case. Along with him, Abdul Jabbar has also been arrested for his involvement in the case. Both of them have been kept in Udharbond Police custody as the investigation of the case is in progress.
The dead body of the deceased daily wager was brought to Udharbond after postmortem at around 1:30 this afternoon. The locals staged a demonstration with the dead body and decided to rally the area. The demand to arrest everyone involved in this has been raised by the gathering of over a hundred people. Most of the people gathered there are tea garden labourers and daily wagers, who have voiced against the cold-blooded murder of Hira Bauri.
