Another dead body found in Dholai; poison bottle planted to present as suicide

The dead body of an unidentified man was found under mysterious circumstances in a location under Dholai constituency in Cachar district early, on Thursday morning.

According to sources, locals saw the body lying near the boundary wall of Shyamacharanpur lower primary school this morning. There was an empty poison bottle clenched by the dead body. This gave an impression to residents that the man had committed suicide. However, the actual picture came to light after the police arrived and initiated the investigation.

A team of officials from Dholai police station reached the spot and found that the man’s neck was tied up with a cloth. There were also traces of blood near his mouth. The police thus came to a conclusion that the man, who looked in his late 40s, was strangulated. They also suspect that the poison bottle was planted to present the incident as a suicide.

The news of the incident spread like a wildfire. Residents in large numbers gathered at the spot. However, the identification of the man could not be done, as per last available reports.

The man was in a white half-sleeved T-shirt. There was no money or mobile phone with him, which also indicated that perhaps he was robbed and then killed. The dead body was sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.

It may be mentioned that this is the second such incident within a span of 15 days. A 22-year-old girl was found dead in Dholai constituency’s Rajghat village on July 4. The deceased, Rimpi Roy, was the daughter of late Brojolal Roy.
