Another suspected rape and murder case in Barak Valley; 45 year old guides Police to the dead body of a missing minor

Crime against women, especially minors, has seen a significant spike in the last few days. One after another dead body is being recovered, however, there is very little attention paid to these cases. In the third link road area, a dead body was found floating. Then there was one headless woman’s body recovered from the middle of the road. While the Police tried to downplay the incident terming it an accident, there is information that the Police have now identified it as a murder.

Little away from Cachar, in Karimganj district, a minor from the tea tribe was gang-raped by six minors and the same was filmed. What is the reason for this significant rise in crime against women in Barak Valley? Each crime is gruesome in nature and the victims are identical.

Today, the officer in charge of Joypur Police Station led an operation to find the dead body of a missing minor girl. The girl had gone to the residence of her maternal aunty to enjoy a wedding. She was missing since November 6 and the parents lodged a missing complaint at Joypur Police Station.

The OC Subhit Gogoi and his team launched the operation to find the missing girl. During the investigation, a young boy pointed toward a man identified as Islam Uddin. The boy said that he has seen this man escorting the missing girl. The Police then detained the man and after interrogation, the man confessed that he has committed a crime.

“Today, Islam Uddin guided us to a hill amidst a jungle. There we found the dead body of the missing child. He has murdered the minor and abandoned her there,” informed the Officer In Charge.

The Police is suspecting it to be a rape and murder case, “At this stage, we can only confirm the murder as the accused has confessed the same. However, we are investigating the matter further and will wait for the postmortem reports to comment on if it was a rape and murder both. We are not ruling anything out as yet,” added the OC.

Please Note: This is a case under the POCSO Act. and so, revealing name or any details that might lead to the identification of the victim is a crime.
