Anti-corruption team nabs corrupt official from Silchar Red Handed
Today, on March 05, the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Team successfully apprehended a corrupt official from the Silchar Development Authority. Identified as Abhijit Kar, a field surveyor, he fell into a trap set by the vigilant team. Kar had been soliciting bribes, and the team caught him red-handed accepting a sum of Rs. 15,000 in exchange for issuing a NOC.
Upon his arrest, a thorough search was conducted, leading to the discovery of additional illicit funds. From Kar’s possession, Rs. 38,500 were recovered, while a further investigation at his residence revealed Rs. 1,260,890. In total, the team managed to recover Rs. 1,299,390, excluding the tainted money.

The Chairman of Silchar Development Authority, Manjul Deb, reacted to the incident, informing how Abhijit Kar was caught and appreciated the efforts of the vigilance team in eradicating corruption from our society. He acknowledged the team’s work as righteous and stated that he would cooperate with them whenever needed. He believes that corrupt people should receive appropriate punishment and is glad that one such person was caught from their establishment.
