Assam Police Personnel suffers cardiac arrest on duty; DIG pays ceremonial tribute to his mortal remains

The Assam Police has ceremonially paid tributes to their deceased personnel, Udhab Das posted in Cachar. The deceased soldier was a Commando of the 7 Battalion of Assam Police. He was a resident of Bharigaon Village in Barpeta, Assam. The 56-year-old Havildar of the Commando Battalion was posted in Dholai for duty.

According to Police sources, while on duty Das had a Cardiac-arrest and tipped off and fell on the ground. He was rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital for treatment where he was declared dead by the doctors. His postmortem reports are awaited. On February 11, the Assam Police paid him honour and salute for his service in a small ceremony near the Police Reserve quarters in Jail Road, Silchar.

SP Cachar, IPS Dr. Ramandeep Kaur was present during the ceremony to pay her respect and honour to the departed soul. Southern Assam DIG Kankanjyoti Saikiya who was also present to conduct the ceremony said, “Havildar Udhab Das was a man of the 7 Commando Battalion of the Assam Police. He was posted for duty in the Dholai area where he had a minor cardiac arrest. The preliminary reports also reveal the same, but the final reports will be revealed only after the post-mortem. His home is in Bojali, the newly created district. We have sent this unfortunate news to his home and will send his body to his hometown. We are deeply shocked and pray for the departed, may his soul rest in peace”.
