The Assam Rifles have initiated a search and rescue operation following the abduction of three individuals from the Joypur Stone Quarry near Aina Cherra, located at the Cachar Dima Hasao borders. This development unfolded after Cachar SP Numal Mahatta, accompanied by police officials, inspected the quarry site to assess the situation.

The abducted individuals have been identified as Raju Tanti from Aina Cherra, a JCB driver, Amit Urang from Modhura Nagar, also a JCB driver, and Biswa Dhar from Udharbond, a Tipper Truck driver.

During his visit to Udharbond Police Station, SP Numal Mahatta met with local businessmen N Burman and Shankar Roy, operators at the stone quarry in Joypur. Notably, two individuals initially reported missing following the morning’s gunfire have returned safely, and the SP engaged with them as part of the ongoing operation.

Although suspicions regarding the involvement of a recognised antisocial group have surfaced, the SP has refrained from confirming this information, indicating an ongoing investigation into the matter.

The morning incident at Joypur Stone Quarry saw armed assailants abducting three individuals, triggering panic among onlookers after two gunshots disrupted the tranquility of the quarry. Eyewitnesses confirmed the forcible abduction of the JCB and Tipper Truck drivers, prompting swift action from law enforcement agencies.
