Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ashes reaches Silchar, to be immersed in Barak at 4 PM
The ‘Atal Kalash Yatra’ was announced by BJP high command yesterday in an event, where urns carrying late Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ashes were handed over to party chiefs of all states in presence of Prime Minister and Vajpayee’s foster daughter Namita Kaul Bhattacharya. The ‘Kalash’ carrying Vajpayee’s ashes reached Kumbirgram airport today and the ashes (asti) will be immersed in river Barak at 4 PM in the evening.
Yesterday, in an event in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah hand over the urns. They urged each and every MLAs from the states in India to participate in the ‘Atal Kalash Yatra’. The party supremos believe it will be more than just ashes immersion.
As we can see in the pictures, environment and forest, fishery and excise minister of Assam Parimal Suklabaidya, veteran BJP leader Kabindra Purkayastha and other senior BJP leaders gathered in Silchar Airport to receive the ashes. A huge procession is expected to march with the ashes, as the leaders take it to Sadarghat.
This ‘Atal Kalash Yatra’ will continue throughout the entire month. BJP estimates that the ashes will be immersed in over 100 rivers all across the country.
Three-time Prime Minister and founder of BJP Atal Bihari Vajpayee passed away on August 16, 2018. The Bharat Ratna was admitted in AIIMS for about nine weeks and eventually succumbed to multiple organ failures. This ‘Atal Kalash Yatra’ is to mark respect to him and also unite cadres across the country before the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign kicks off.
