August 29 COVID Update: 147 Positive in Cachar, 80 in Hailakandi; 1 dead in SMCH, 21 critical

Cachar health department informed that 147 individuals in the district have tested positive in the district on Saturday. Out of them, 142 were tested using the rapid antigen test kit.

33 new patients took admission to the COVID ward in Silchar Medical College and Hospital whereas 18 got discharged after recovering from the virus. The total number of patients in the COVID wards stood at 301.

Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, vice-principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that one patient in the COVID ward, a Karimganj resident, has succumbed in the last 24 hours. “21 patients are in critical condition and out of them, 16 are in ICU and three have been placed under ventilation,” added Gupta.

On the other hand, Hailakandi administration, in its daily bulletin mentioned, 80 new corona cases have been detected in the district on August 29, taking the total tally to 2,248 in Hailakandi.

Health authorities of Hailakandi disclosed that of the 80 positive cases, 26 have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while 54 under RT-PCR.

The district administration has stepped up swab samples collection. 21,407 swab samples were taken under RT-PCR and 26,489 under RAT.

40-45 mobile medical teams have fanned out to different parts of the district.
