Barnali Sharma conducts raid in Silchar; hands pharmacists to police for selling meds without wearing mask, gloves
Following the lockdown protocols is not a choice but a must. The country as the world is fighting an invisible enemy and thus the government has made it compulsory for everyone to remain indoors and only step out if it is extremely essential or an emergency. The Prime Minister of the country and Silchar MP has praised the residents for duly following the lockdown protocols, however, there are occasional breaches. To deal with them the deputy commissioner of Cachar Barnali Sharma has herself hit the roads.
Yesterday, Barnali Sharma conducted a raid at some important points of Silchar city in the afternoon. The official page of the deputy commissioner of Cachar informed that she found out a group of boys and ladies in “their thirties” were moving on the streets without any valid reasons. According to the statement released by the deputy commissioner’s office, they weren’t using masks to cover their faces nor were they maintaining social distancing norms and thus violating the government guidelines for COVID-19.
“During the raid, she also noticed that the salesmen of medicine shops at two places were selling medicines without using masks and gloves to their customers. Noticing that, she was grossly annoyed over the issues of non-compliance with the Government guidelines. Deputy Commissioner immediately called the police personnel from the nearest police outpost and handed over them to the police. They were arrested by the police and later they were taken into remand. The action was taken against them in accordance with the law, fines were also imposed on them for non-compliance of the government guidelines during COVID-19 period,” read the statement released by the office of deputy commissioner on its official Facebook page.
In view of this, Sharma reiterated that it is important to wear a mask and maintain social distancing at all levels. She urged all not to leave the houses unless its absolutely necessary during the lockdown period and strictly follow the government guidelines. “Non-compliance of the government directions, action will be taken against them as per section 51(b) of Disaster management act,2005,” informed the statement.
