BJP confident of massive gathering at Modi’s programme in Silchar

Cachar district BJP president Kaushik Rai, on Tuesday, claimed that the ensuing visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Silchar on January 4 would be the “biggest meeting” in the North East. ‘We had around 2.5 lakh people attending Narendra Modi ji’s event here in 2014. This time, the numbers will gallop to a mammoth total and we are gearing up to make the first meeting after his assuming the coveted post of the Prime Minister a grand success,” he said.

He informed that the meeting to be held at the field near Ramnagar bypass has been named as “Bijoy Sankalpa Samabesh”. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, state BJP president Ranjeet Dass along with party’s observer for Assam Mahendra Singh will arrive in Silchar on January 3 for the meeting.

Former Union minister and veteran BJP leader Kabindra Purakayastha, meanwhile said he felt that the PM’s visit will provide an impetus to the party and help it devise strategies to capture the Silchar and Karimganj seats in the Lok Sabha election. He also hoped that the Prime Minister shall address the core issues faced by the people of Barak Valley.
