Bomb threat in Cachar at Assam-Mizoram; “Antisabotage is being done,” Cachar SP
A section of the Mizo population has forever opposed the construction of the bridge in Khulicherra, Cachar, at the Assam-Mizoram border. It is the same Khulicherra where a school was allegedly bombed by the Mizo miscreants. The government of Assam School is still not operational.
Last night, the Cachar Police received the intel that a suspected explosive item has been spotted under the under-construction bridge at Khulicherra. It is worth mentioning here that in November 2021, Cachar Police diffused an explosive under the same bridge.
After receiving the intel, senior officers of Cachar Police rushed to the spot to verify the intel. The officers continued to visit the spot throughout the day but there was no confirmation on the chain of events unfolding under the bridge.
Superintendent of Cachar Police, Ramandeep Kaur, said while speaking with Barak Bulletin, “There’s an input of IED at the bridge which is under construction at Kulicherra. Accordingly antisabotage is being done. All formations are alerted.”
In a territorial dispute between Assam and Mizoram, the Armed Police of the latter had launched a blitzkrieg resulting in the death of six Assam Police personnel within the territory of Assam. Since then, several meetings have been held at different levels but Mizoram continued its aggression and violated the status quo to construct villages within the disputed territory.
How this bomb threat transpires is something that remains to be seen. During one of the visits to Cachar after the bombing at a school in Khulicherra earlier in 2020, he had said that Assam will appeal for an NIA investigation to unearth the culprits. Former DIG Southern Range went on to say that these are acts of terrorism, yet, no action was taken against anyone.
