Borkhola Promises to Unite Against Drug Menace, to organise Anti Drug Awareness on Human Rights Day

On the upcoming Human Rights Day, December 10, 2023, the Borkhola Nagorik Committee is poised to make a profound impact on its community by hosting an Anti-Drug Awareness Event at the Multi-Purpose Hall in Borkhola. This event, held in association with SLRM and DISHA Cachar, aims to shed light on the critical issue of drug addiction, emphasizing the importance of abstaining from substances that can detrimentally affect individuals and society.

The decision to organize this event was made during a pivotal meeting held on December 5, 2023. The committee, composed of dedicated individuals passionate about the well-being of their community, convened to strategize and meticulously plan the event. Member Secretary Inspector RK Das, OC Borkhola Police Station, Former GP President of Dolu, Rampore, Dilip Singh Chetri, Former GP President, Borkhola, Gouranga Das, Secretary of SEDO, Ajit Das, and Social Activist Sangita Singha were among the members present during the meeting, along with many others. Recognizing the urgent need to address the rising concerns of drug addiction, the committee aims to create awareness about the adverse effects and potential consequences of substance abuse.

The Anti-Drug Awareness Event is expected to feature insightful discussions and engaging presentations that will underscore the devastating impact of drug addiction on individuals, families, and the broader community. Borkhola Nagorik Committee President Sebok Paul stated that the primary aim behind this awareness event is to inform rural families, especially mothers, about the dangers of drugs and the risks they pose to society. It’s an effort to equip families with enough knowledge to protect themselves from the menace of drugs.

Furthermore, the committee is not confining its efforts to a single event. In an endeavor to tackle emerging challenges in today’s digital age, the Borkhola Nagorik Committee has also decided to organize an awareness program on Cyber Crime. This program, scheduled for December 27, will take place at Dolu, providing valuable information and insights into the growing threats of cybercrime and how individuals can protect themselves in the digital realm.

By addressing both drug addiction and cybercrime, the committee demonstrates its commitment to fostering a safer and more informed community. These initiatives align with the spirit of Human Rights Day, which emphasizes the right to live a life free from harm, coercion, and the adverse effects of illegal activities.

As the Borkhola Nagorik Committee takes proactive steps to address these pressing issues, the community eagerly anticipates the positive impact these awareness events will have on fostering a safer, more informed, and united society.
