In a very significant development today, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), in collaboration with Assam Police, apprehended Md. Noor Hussain from Badripar, Silchar in connection with a bomb blast that occurred in Kwakta, Bishnupur district, Manipur on June 21, 2023 involving an explosive-laden Scorpio vehicle. It maybe mentioned that though Noor Hussain is a resident of Manipur yet he was hiding at Badripar since the last 15 days to avoid notice by security agencies.

The bomb blast case was initially registered by Manipur Police on the same day of the incident under FIR number 635(6)2023 at the PGCI Police Station in Moirang subdivision of Bishnupur district, Manipur. The National Investigation Agency subsequently took over the case on June 23, 2023 in Imphal.

NIA’s intensive investigations uncovered the involvement of Md. Noor Hussain in the devastating bomb blast that unfolded on the fateful day of June 21, 2023. The incident involved an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) hidden within a Scorpio vehicle strategically parked on a bridge spanning the area of Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai and Kwakta, along the Tiddim road in Bishnupur District, Manipur. As a result of this explosion, three individuals sustained injuries, and the bridge itself, in addition to nearby houses, sustained significant damage.

The arrest of Md. Noor Hussain marks a substantial breakthrough in the ongoing investigation. The NIA has assured that further inquiries are actively in progress to uncover the full scope of the case and ascertain any additional suspects or accomplices.
