Breaking: Police opens fire in Rangikhari after protests took violent shape

Breaking news coming in from the heart of the town.

Cachar Police had to open fire to bring law and order situation under control. A massive protest broke earlier this evening after a female resident’s mutiliated dead body was recovered from an under construction building in Dwarbond.

The locals alleged that the police did not take necessary actions even after their complaints. According to them because of the in-action the female was subjected to alleged rape and death.

Despite assurances of justice from Cachar SP, the locals launched a massive protest blocking the Hailakandi road in Rangikhari and demonstrated with the dead body. When police officials tried to disberse the crowd they resorted to violent stone pelting which left several security personnel including a CRPF jawan.

As the violent mob was getting out of control the police opened blank fire to bring law and order.
