Bribery Syndicate at Katigorah Circle Office: Lat Mandal Caught Red-Handed on Hidden Camera
In a startling revelation, a video has surfaced on social media showing Lat Mandal Sahadat Hussain of the Katigorah Circle Office accepting a bribe. This incident has shed light on the pervasive corruption within the office, notorious for its long-standing issues. Employees and local dalal (brokers) have a nexus and bribes dictates the norms of the office for any work to be done.
The footage, captured on a hidden camera, depicts Sahadat Hussain counting and pocketing several 500-rupee notes from an individual in exchange for land-related work. The video has gone viral, sparking outrage and widespread reactions from the public.
Operations against corrupt government employees have become a daily affair in the state, with numerous officials being caught red-handed. However, despite these ongoing efforts, some government employees continue to indulge in bribery, seemingly undeterred by the consequences.
The ASO Cum Circle Office in Katigorah has been a known hotspot for corruption, where common people struggle to get their work done without offering bribes. From land registration to various administrative tasks, bribes are the norm. Employees, in collaboration with local brokers, have reportedly formed a large syndicate, making it nearly impossible for the public to receive services without paying extra.
Despite repeated complaints to the district administration by victims of this corruption, no significant action has been taken, leading to suspicions of complicity. The viral video of Sahadat Hussain accepting the bribe stands as undeniable evidence of the malpractice within the office.
A concerned local commented on the situation, saying, “We have seen a video viral on social media today where a patwari is accepting bribes in the open. Under the Bharatmala project, the locals are facing harassment as no work gets done at the circle without the exchange of money. We see some people going to the Circle Office daily. What work do they have at the office daily or are they hatching any bribe racket?”
The locals demanded a thorough investigation to determine if other employees are also involved in this bribe racket and to put an end to the corruption that has plagued the Katigorah Circle Office for far too long.
