BSF field intelligence unit – Silchar seizes Yaba tablets worth 1.7 cr from Kalain – Katigorah Road in a joint ops with Karimganj Customs
The Border Security Force has seized a huge consignment of Yaba tablets from a private four-wheeler near the Hilara Railway Crossing on Kalain-Katigorah Road. This mission was jointly led by the BSF M&C Frontier and the Karimganj Customs Department. 17 thousand Yaba tablets were found in the car heading towards Meghalaya and one person has also been apprehended by the operation team. This operation was held late at night on December 27, and the vehicle was apprehended around 1 AM on December 28.
In a late-night operation by the BSF and the Karimganj Customs Department, this huge consignment of narcotic substance was recovered from a white Alto car. The Alto car bearing registration number ML 05P 8654 was heading towards Meghalaya and it was intercepted at around 1 AM on December 28 near the Hilara Railway on NH-6. Upon searching the car, the joint operation team found 17000 Yaba tablets concealed inside the rear left door of the car.
In a press release, the BSF M&C Frontier mentioned, “On 27.12.2022 at about 2300 hrs, acting on specific intelligence regarding transportation of suspected Yaba tablets in a white colour Alto Car along Katigorah – Kalain Road on NH-06 towards Meghalaya side, a Joint Ops was planned by BSF Field Intelligence Unit Silchar along with Karimganj Customs Division and Ops Team of 1 Bn BSF. At about 280120 hrs, the Joint Ops Party intercepted the suspected Alto Car near Hilara Railway crossing on Katigorah – Kalain road (NH-06). On searching the Alto Car, suspected Yaba Tablets concealed inside the left door (back side) were recovered and seized. Driver of vehicle was also apprehended.”
The operation party has seized the Yaba tablets, along with the vehicle and a mobile phone. The market value of the Yaba tablets estimated to be around 1.7 crores has been handed over to the Karimganj Customs by the BSF. The Karimganj Customs has also held the driver of the vehicle, who was apprehended in this connection.
