BSF intercepts illegal smuggling of Buffaloes; detains truck in Cachar

In an organized drive against cattle smuggling, the Border Security Force (BSF) Intelligence Team of the 1st Battalion BSF of Mizoram & Cachar Ftr along with troops of 1st Battalion BSF, have busted one Tata truck illegally carrying 15 buffaloes (11 male and 4 female). The incident happened when a suspicious truck carrying those cattle from Meghalaya side via Malidor-Gumrah -Kalain-Badarpur was parked on NH-6 (NRL Filling station) and was reported and informed immediately by telephone to the OC, PICP Gumrah to reach the spot by the BSF Operation party.

 

While acting on specific information regarding illegal movement of cattle on NH-06 (NRL Filling Station), on June 12 at around 1:40 am, a search of the truck was carried out in the presence of Police, 15 Buffaloes (11 male & 04 female) worth ₹12,00,000 along with one Tata truck worth ₹30,47,600 were recovered and seized. The seized cattle along with the truck was handed over to the PICP Gumrah for legal actions with a requisition to lodge an FIR. 

 

Earlier this year, on February 24, 2021, acting on a piece of specific information, BSF troops of 1st Battalion BSF also seized 34 numbers of cattle in the general area of Gumrah on NH-06 Malidor- Gumrah road.
