Cachar breaks all records as 630 test positive; SMCH declares 6 dead in 24 hours

Cachar district breaks all previous records in terms of one day spike. On Saturday, the district reported 630 cases. 432 of them tested positive on RAT while 198 on RT-PCR. 6746 samples were tested on RAT while the number of samples tested on RT-PCR remains unknown.

As per update given by the authority at 5 pm on May 22, six covid patients died at Silchar Medical College Hospital in the last 24 hours. 63 years old Madhabi Rani Das from Shibpur, Cachar district was admitted at Silchar Medical College Hospital on May 16 and she breathed her last on May 21 at 7-30 pm

Faizur Rahman Barbhuiya, aged 76 years from Ambikapur, Cachar was admitted at SMCH on May 17 and he expired on may 21 at 9-45 PM. 58 years old Ajay Bahadur Thapa from Arunachal, Cachar was admitted at SMCH on May 18 and he breathed his last on May 22 at 6-15 in the morning. Ranjit Paul aged 72 years also from Arunachal, Cachar got admitted at SMCH on May 17. He breathed his last 7-50 am on May 22. 69 years old Gayatri Das from public school Road Silchar was admitted at Silchar Medical College Hospital on May 18 and she breathed her last on May 22 at 11-20 am.

The last patient declared dead till 5:00 pm at SMCH, Maya Chakraborty, aged 67 years from Chengkuri, Silchar, Cachar got admitted at SMCH on May 19 and she succumbed to death on May 22 at 12-10 pm.

Dr. Bhaskar Gupta informed that 280 patients are currently under treatment in SMCH while ICU is occupied by 95 patients. 23 patients are currently on ventilator while 165 are on oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 52 patients have been admitted to the SMCH while 36 have got discharged. Currently, there are 2248 number of active cases in Cachar.

In Karimganj district, 3304 swab samples were collected on Saturday and 105 have tested positive. 103 of them on RAT. Currently, there are 743 active cases in the district.

In Hailakandi, 83 individuals have tested positive. The number of active cases in Hailakandi stands at 753.
