Cachar Congress protest against water logging by fishing in the streets of Silchar with nets and traps
Congress workers did a symbolic protest against water logging today by fishing in the busiest streets of Silchar with fish traps and fishing nets sails in their hands.
In the video is the busiest National Highway Point located in Silchar. The main roads of the city have been under water for the past two days due to heavy rains. Since two days the National Highway point has knee length water. People are passing through the place with threat to their lives. It is a sort of house arrest for the residents of Silchar. But there is no initiative by the local MLA, MP and Municipality to drain the accumulated water.
Hence Silchar District Congress has decided to protest against the matter by fishing in the roads of Silchar. The Congress workers led by District Congress president Abhijit Paul took to the streets for fishing with nets and traps as a symbolic protest against the water logging problem in the city. The Congressmen alleged that the government did not construct roads and drains in the city despite having enough time. Hence, the city’s streets got submerged under water after two days of rain. The government also hasn’t taken any measures to drain the accumulated water from the roads.
