Cachar CRPF Serviceman Dies of Heart Attack Playing Badminton at Vairengte Camp

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Sub-Inspector from Arakatipur in Cachar district passed away after suffering a heart attack while playing badminton at the Vairengte Camp in Mizoram on Sunday night (December 28).

Kh Ranjit Singha, a resident of Lauthai village in New Doyapur, Arakatipur area in Cachar district, was serving with the 225 Battalion of the CRPF, Aizawl–Mizoram. His company was deployed at the Vairengte Camp along the Assam–Mizoram border.

According to family members, Kh Ranjit Singha was playing badminton with fellow servicemen inside the camp on Sunday night. After finishing the game, he was switching places with another player to take a rest when he suddenly collapsed on the ground. He was immediately rushed to the doctor, where he was declared dead.

His younger brother Prabin Singha told Barak Bulletin that Ranjit Singha had died of a heart attack. His body was later brought to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). At the time of filing this report, the postmortem examination had yet to be conducted.

Kh Ranjit Singha is survived by his wife and a son, who is currently studying in Class 5. His sudden demise has cast a pall of gloom over his family and native village.

Following the postmortem, his body will be taken to his residence at Lauthai, where CRPF personnel will pay their last respects in a dignified funeral procession before he is cremated in his native village.
