Cachar District Gears Up for Smooth Conduct of ADRE: 75,707 Students to Appear Amidst Tight Security and Internet Shutdown
Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Rohan Kumar Jha, the Cachar district administration has set the stage for a seamless and efficient execution of the Assam Direct Recruitment (ADR) Examinations, slated for September 15. With an overwhelming 75,707 candidates expected, including 19,119 from Hailakandi and 8,049 from Karimganj, meticulous planning has been implemented to manage the large-scale event. Mobile Internet services in the entire Assam will be suspended during exam hours.
During a media briefing on Friday at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, DC Jha emphasised that the administration had drawn on lessons from past examinations to refine its strategy, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Among the standout measures is the arrangement of six special trains from Hailakandi and Karimganj, running on both September 14 and the early morning of September 15, specifically to help candidates reach their exam centres on time.
To minimise traffic congestion, markets across the district will remain closed on exam day. Subrata Sen, Additional Superintendent of Police, highlighted that 19 examination centres have been flagged as sensitive and will be under close surveillance. Additionally, police personnel from neighbouring districts will be deployed at key intersections and railway crossings to ensure a steady traffic flow.
A total of 157 exam centres across 142 locations, including 16 centres at Assam University, have been prepared. The administration has also arranged transportation from five key locations—ISBT, Silchar Railway Station, Rongpur, Nagatilla, and Meherpur—at fixed fares to prevent overcharging and ensure convenience for candidates.
The district administration’s proactive measures underscore its commitment to ensuring a safe and smooth environment for all candidates.
