According to eyewitnesses and police sources, the attack occurred on Wednesday (June 11) morning when Anil Singha, out on his daily walk, noticed 28-year-old Tompok Yengkhom strolling on the road with his pet dog and an airgun. When the dog suddenly lunged towards him, Anil reportedly asked Tompok to control his pet, our of fear. Enraged by the remark, Tompok allegedly struck him on the head with the butt of the airgun, leaving Anil seriously injured.

Later, an FIR was filed by the victim’s family, based on which police launched a search operation the same night. When police reached Tompok’s residence to arrest him, he allegedly fired shots into the air from the same airgun in an attempt to flee. However, he was quickly overpowered and taken into custody.

During a search of his house, police recovered the airgun along with two small pistols used for hunting birds. Tompok was produced in court on Thursday (June 12).

Local residents have described Tompok Yengkhom as an aggressive and short-tempered individual. They also alleged that he has been under the influence of drugs before.
