Cachar Police Arrest Father For Allegedly Raping, Impregnating His Minor Daughter

Eleven months after a case was registered, Cachar Police were able to arrest a father for raping and impregnating his 17-year-old daughter. The inhuman father was arrested after a long chase and police investigation led by SI Papuli Duarah of Udharbond Police Station. The inhuman father, a resident of Udharbond, Cachar. Based on credential inputs and a complaint registered by the victim’s daughter, he was arrested by the team led by SI Duarah on Monday night (November 10) from Doyapur Bridge Road. On Tuesday (November 12), the rapist father was produced before the court.

According to the case details, on January 18 this year, the minor daughter lodged a complaint against her biological father of rape at Rangirkhari Outpost under Silchar Sadar Police Station. The case was later transferred from Silchar Sadar Police Station to Udarband Police Station, after which SI Papuli Duarah took charge of the investigation.

In her complaint, the minor stated that in 2022, while she was staying with her father in their Udarbond residence, her biological father, forcibly established a physical relationship with her. When she resisted, the father allegedly threatened her in various ways and warned her that he would kill her brother if she revealed anything.

Later, fled to another state, leaving the minor alone at home. When she was seven months pregnant, she fell ill and informed her paternal aunt about the matter. Her aunt contacted the father over the phone, and the inhuman father instructed the aunt to take the girl to a doctor. Following his instruction, she was taken for medical treatment.

Subsequently, the girl was kept at her aunt’s elder daughter’s house, where the victim gave birth to a girl. She handed the infant over to the aunt’s daughter and left. Her aunt later helped her get a job.

Later, the victim called her father to say that she had nowhere to stay and asked for shelter. The father sent her to an uncle’s home. There, she got to know that her father had remarried. When she went to confront her father, and thought that now she could stay with her stepmother. But she was not accepted there either, as the stepmother was pregnant at the time.

After learning the entire situation, she tried to flee from there also, but the police later detained her from the train and sent her to the Jalukbari State Home and later to Nivedita Nari Sangstha at Silchar.

But months after the case and years after the demonic act, the father has finally been arrested by the police.
