Cachar Police Arrests Individual Impersonating as SP and Conning People; “Strict action as per law,” Numal Mahatta
Cachar Police has successfully apprehended an individual who was impersonating the Superintendent of Police (SP) and deceiving unsuspecting citizens. Identified as Jabir Ahmed, son of Aftabur Rahman a resident of Badarpur, the impostor had created a fake account and presented himself as the SP of Cachar.
Superintendent of Cachar Police, Numal Mahatta, addressed the media during a press briefing to inform them about the case. SP Mahatta revealed that a few days ago, it had come to his attention that when individuals searched for “Cachar SP” on Google, the contact details of the imposter would appear. Exploiting this deceptive tactic, Jabir Ahmed pretended to be the legitimate SP of Cachar Police and solicited money from innocent people.
During the investigation, the Cachar Police uncovered evidence suggesting that Jabir Ahmed was involved in various scams, including extortion under the guise of passport verification. Determined to bring the imposter to justice, the police initiated a trace on Jabir Ahmed and discovered that he worked as a driver at a Nexa showroom in Bangalore.
Seizing the opportunity when Jabir Ahmed returned from Bangalore on June 3, a police team promptly raided his residence in Badarpur and apprehended him. As part of their investigation, the police confiscated his mobile phone, which is expected to provide crucial evidence for the case. SP Mahatta assured the public that appropriate “Strict action as per law” would be taken against Jabir Ahmed for his fraudulent activities.
Citizens are advised to remain vigilant and cautious when dealing with unfamiliar individuals claiming to hold authoritative positions. It is crucial to verify the authenticity of such claims through official channels before sharing any personal information or parting with money. The Cachar Police urges anyone who may have fallen victim to Jabir Ahmed’s scams or has additional information related to the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.
