Cachar Police Burn Rs. 279 Crore Worth of Drugs in Anti-Narcotics Drive

Cachar Police on Thursday incinerated drugs valued at Rs. 279.28 crores as part of their anti-drug campaign. The substances were burnt near a brick factory in Jatinga under court directives and in the presence of top officials, including Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta.

The destroyed contraband included heroin, cannabis, yaba tablets, cough syrup, and other narcotics. SP Mahatta stated, “Today, all kinds of drug substances seized by us throughout the region were destroyed as per court order and in the presence of the CID.”

This action forms part of the Assam Police’s ongoing “War on Drugs” initiative, which has seen a series of successful operations across the state. In Cachar district, law enforcement has frequently apprehended individuals involved in smuggling illegal substances and confiscated large amounts of drugs.

The Cachar Police have earned recognition for their commitment to combating drug-related crimes, ensuring the destruction of seized substances to prevent them from re-entering circulation. Such efforts reflect the Police’s dedication to making society safer and drug-free.
