Cachar Police Busts ₹24 Crore Drug Transportation in Dholai’s Islamabad
In a swift early morning operation on February 23, Cachar Police acted on credible intelligence to intercept a drug trafficking operation in Dholai’s Islamabad area, under Bagha Bazar. The operation resulted in the apprehension of a suspect and the seizure of a significant quantity of narcotics.
Acting on timely and reliable intelligence, Cachar Police swiftly launched the operation, effectively halting the transportation of illicit substances. During the operation, authorities seized thirty soapboxes and four black leather bags containing suspected heroin, with a total weight of approximately 4.765 kilograms.
The apprehended individual was identified as 35-year-old Md Abdul Hussain Laskar, a resident of the Islamabad area. Reports suggest that the black market value of the recovered narcotics is estimated to be around ₹24 crores.
According to SP Numal Mahatta, the information regarding the narcotics transportation was received the previous night, prompting immediate action. He asserted that this drug operation likely has international connections and assured that his team is actively pursuing leads to dismantle it.
Expressing commitment to eradicate the drug menace, SP Mahatta highlighted the dedication of Cachar Police to making the region drug-free. He emphasised on the vision of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to rid Assam of drugs and pledged to work towards achieving this goal.
