Cachar Police Busts Narcotics Transportation Operation in Dholai: Two Arrested
In a targeted operation against the transportation of narcotics, Cachar Police conducted a successful raid on the evening of March 30, 2024, at Manipuri Market, Islamabad, Bagha Bazaar, under the jurisdiction of Dholai Police Station. Acting on credible intelligence, law enforcement apprehended two suspects and seized a significant quantity of suspected heroin.
According to Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Numal Mahatta, the operation resulted in the apprehension of Md Mojibur Rahman Borbhuiya, aged 27, and Hirumoni Laskar, aged 27. The confiscated contraband, weighing approximately 375 grams and packed in thirty-one soap boxes, is believed to be heroin. The estimated value of the seized narcotics in the black market is a staggering two crores.
The accused individuals, hailing from different areas within Cachar, were allegedly transporting the illegal substance from Aizawl district of Mizoram. The seized narcotics have been secured and sealed on-site in the presence of independent witnesses.
“Further investigation into the matter is ongoing,” stated Superintendent Numal Mahatta, emphasizing the commitment of Cachar Police to combatting the illicit drug trade in the region.
