Cachar Police confiscates heroin worth rupees 10 lakh, driver from Jirighat arrested

Cachar Police has achieved another huge feat in the War Against Drugs mission. Acting on secret intel the police force has successfully apprehended narcotics worth rupees 10 lakh. This operation was held last evening in the Jirighat area of Cachar, which is close to the Manipur border. The narcotics substance suspected to be heroin was recovered by a team from Bahadurpur Police Station. One person was also arrested under NDPS Act in this connection and a vehicle was also apprehended from where the contraband was found.

Last evening, acting on secret intel a police formation apprehended a Bolero pick-up van and started to search their search operation. Upon search procedure, 18 soap cases filled with what is suspected to be heroin were found. Cachar SP, APS Numal Mahatta in this regard said, “We have found 18 soap cases from the vehicle filled with suspected heroin. It weighs around 182.8 grams in total. The estimated market value goes up to 10 lakhs as per our estimate. This is a part of our War on Drugs Mission”.

The APS officer further said, “We have arrested one individual with the charges of peddling the narcotic substance. He has been identified as Bikram Singh of Bahadurpur village in the Jirighat area. The vehicle he was driving bearing a registration number AS 01 EC 9407 has also been apprehended by us”.

The peddler, Bikram Singh was arrested on the charges of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, of 1985. NDPS Act prohibits a person from the production/manufacturing/cultivation, possession, sale, purchasing, transport, storage, and/or consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substances.
