Cachar Police intercepts truck smuggling cattle from Mizoram, arrests 1

Dholai Police confiscated a truck filled with bulls smuggled from Saiphai, Mizoram, near Punimukh, Cachar this morning. Acting upon receiving inputs from a source, the police intercepted a minitruck from which they recovered 8 bulls from the vehicle and arrested the person associated. Further investigation is in process and appropriate actions will be taken as per the law, informed the cops.

The vehicle bears the registration number AS-11/CC-8707. A person named Md Kamrul Islam, aged 30 years, S/O- Md Rofizul Ali Laskar, was apprehended by the police. The accused is a resident of Rajghat village under Dholai Police Station of Cachar.

All the bulls recovered by the police from this vehicle were being transported from Saiphai village in the Kolasib district of the neighboring state of Mizoram. Kamrul Islam, on being found associated with this illegal transportation was arrested then and there and interrogated further. No new information has been revealed as of yet, but required investigations are going on and suitable actions will be taken against him according to the rules of law.

Mizoram has now become the hub of animal smuggling in India. Numerous cases of smuggling of exotic animals have already come to light. Not only exotic, but this bordering state is also now infamous for smuggling domesticated animals like bulls as well.
