Cachar Police Nab Two More Fake Doctors, Total Arrests Rise To Eight
Cachar Police carried out two operations on Wednesday evening (September 10) as part of their ongoing investigation against quack doctors in the district. Two more fake doctors were apprehended, taking the total number of arrests in Cachar to eight. Both claimed to possess MBBS degrees and treated patients at their own chambers. Police also revealed the existence of an agency that provides fake certificates to such quacks.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Numal Mahatta, informed that the operations were conducted in different areas on the outskirts of the district. The first operation, in Borkhola Part 2, led to the arrest of Nihar Hussain Mazarbhuiya, who had been claiming to be an MBBS and MD on his prescription pad. Enquiries revealed that he runs two pharmacies—Dilshan Drugs and Sania Drugs—and had been treating patients illegally. An investigation has been initiated under Borkhola Police Station.
In the second case, an operation in Jirighat led to the arrest of Radheshyam Rabidas, who ran his own pharmacy and chamber in the Jirighat Bazar area of Cachar. “He too claimed to be an MBBS doctor using a fake registration number. Our investigation confirmed that both his registration and degree were forged,” said SSP Mahatta.
“There is an agency, which we will not name now as the investigation is ongoing, but we have found that this agency provides these quack doctors with fake degrees. We are investigating its role further, and more details will come to light,” SSP Mahatta revealed.
This marks the eighth arrest of a fake doctor in Cachar. SSP Mahatta added that police are certain that more such quacks will be arrested soon, as they continue to exploit poor people by posing as qualified medical professionals.
