Cachar SP supervising immersion process in Sadarghat; says, “CM is keeping tab of situation”

While District Administration shared a list stating 138 puja committees including the residential ones have sought permission for immersion, the Police records suggest there are 255 permissions issued.

Cachar SP Numal Mahatta assessed that there will be around 300 immersion. He himself is monitoring the process. NDRF has also been deployed and the jawans are patrolling the river.

Due to the incessant rains last night, the river water has swelled. “We have taken all necessary precautions. Life boats are present on the spot for immediate response to any disaster. There are trained professionals looking into the situation,” asserted SP.

The district’s top cop added, “Honourable Chief Minister is keeping a tab of the situation. His instructions are clear that this is a celebratory moment and the general public must feel secure in their moment of celebration. We have roped in measures for smooth passage to the Bisarjan ghat.”

At the gate of the Bisarjan Ghat in Sadarghat, forces have been deployed and they are allowing entrance in a secured manner. “For each Puja Committee, we are only allowing a certain number of people. We are explaining it to them and convincing them. And they have cooperated all throughout.”

Till now around 80 sets of idols have been immersed and there are no reports of any untoward incident at Sadarghat.
