Cachar Sporting Club organises Barak Valley based boat race competition on the occasion of 77th Independence Day

In anticipation of the 77th Independence Day celebrations, the Cachar Sporting Club Madhurbond is all set to host the much-awaited annual boat race in Barak Valley. The district’s prestigious event, known for its grand scale and historical significance, has garnered immense support from both the local administration and the public.

In a press conference held on Sunday, the Secretary of the Sporting Club, Abdul Hai Laskar, expressed his enthusiasm and revealed that the organisers are expecting the participation of around 1,00,000 people in the competition this time. He emphasised that the event, which dates back to colonial times, remains the sole one to receive unwavering backing from both the authorities and the community.

The boat race competition offers generous prizes for winners across various boat categories. For the larger boats, the first prize amounts to 1 lakh rupees, followed by 50,000 rupees for the runner-up and 25,000 rupees for the third place. Similarly, for medium-sized boats, the first prize stands at 40,000 rupees, with 25,000 rupees and 15,000 rupees for the second and third places, respectively. For smaller boats, participants will compete for 10,000 rupees, 7,500 rupees, and 5,000 rupees for the first, second, and third prizes, respectively.

The event organisers have urged all interested participants to register their names with the Cachar Sporting Club and complete the entry fee payment process by August 14th to secure their spot in the highly anticipated boat race.

As the nation gears up to celebrate its 77th Independence Day, the Barak Valley boat race promises to be a spectacle of tradition, sportsmanship, and camaraderie, attracting thousands of participants and spectators alike.
