Cases against Ajmal for Anti-Hindu hate speech transferred to Karimganj; “Enquiry launched, in primary stage”, SP Padmanabh Baruah
On Sunday, Congress leader Debabrata Saikia lodged a complaint against the Badruddin Ajmal, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) supremo and Lok Sabha MP from Dhubri over his inflammatory speech which purportedly targeted the Hindu community at large. His speech defamed the Hindu community and demeaned Hindu males stating that they engage with several women without any commitment and only marry after the age of 40 but by then they lose the capability of producing children. Saikia, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Assembly, lodged a complaint against the leader at Simaluguri police station, in the Sivasagar district.
While referring to the low fertility rate among Hindus, Badruddin said, “The Hindus must learn from the Muslims and get their daughters married at the age of 18- 20 and only then they can expect progress. You should sow seeds when the land is fertile. Only then you can expect a good harvest”.
Badruddin, who is also the state President of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind portrays him as the messiah of Muslim women. He took a jibe at the Chief Minister of Assam and offered him four Muslim girls to practice love Jihad.
“Since you’re one of the most powerful politicians in India only second to Narendra Modi and Amit Shah why don’t you elope with four-five Muslim girls yourself. Practice Love Jihad. Let us know where you have kept them and we will reach out to you with sweets and not with the intent to fight or rebel”, Badruddin Ajmal added.
Other than the Congress leader Saikia, The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) had already filed complaints against the Dhubri MP in different parts of the State, while the youth wing of the Trinamool Congress had also given a written submission before the police over the issue on Saturday. While in Silchar, Ripun Bora the Trinamool Congress’s state president reacted to these comments and said, “The hate speech delivered by Badruddin Ajmal is a dictation of Himanta Biswa Sarma.”
The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma reacting to the police complaints said, all the cases related to the AIUDF supremo have been transferred to the Karimganj Police, who will conduct further investigation into the matter.
Karimganj SP Padmanabh Baruah regarding the status of the investigation said, “We have started an enquiry after receiving the cases and we are enquiring all the matters. We have received several complaints from different police stations across the state. We will investigate the matter, right now the enquiry is in the preliminary stages and we are collecting various information from the places where the cases have been filed”.
