Cattle smuggling mafia’s family attacks Gumrah SI with dagger, female constable seriously injured during operation
A cattle smuggling mafia and his family have blatantly attacked the Sub-Inspector of Gumrah Police along with a constable rendering them seriously injured. In a dramatic turn of events, the notorious cattle smuggling kingpin, Abdul Wahid Barbhuiya, alias Pakhi Mian, was finally apprehended by authorities after a prolonged pursuit. The arrest came after a fierce altercation between the Gumrah Police Sub-inspector Chandan Patowry’s team and Pakhi Mian’s family, during a raid at their residence in the bordering village Natanpur near Katigorah in Cachar.
Pakhi Mian, known for his extensive illegal trade in cattle, including cows and buffaloes, had been operating clandestinely for an extended period, ferrying the cattle across the border to Bangladesh. Despite persistent efforts by the Cachar Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) to capture him, Pakhi Mian had managed to elude authorities, evading their intelligence operations time and again.
However, the tide turned in favour of law enforcement last night when a joint operation by the police team successfully cornered Pakhi Mian at his hideout. But what was anticipated to be a routine arrest took a violent turn when Pakhi Mian’s wife and daughter fiercely resisted the police intervention.
In the ensuing scuffle, a female police constable named Karabi Das was grievously injured after being stabbed by Pakhi Mian’s wife using a dagger. Subsequently, Sub-inspector Chandan Patowry rushed to assist Constable Karabi, only to be met with a similar attack on his head from Pakhi Mian’s wife along with the daughter wielding the same weapon.
Both Chandan and Karabi sustained severe injuries and were promptly rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for urgent medical attention. Meanwhile, the police team managed to overpower Pakhi Mian, his wife, and daughter, culminating in their long-awaited arrest.
