“Chalo Bangladesh” Call: Sanatani Oikya Mancha Plans Mass Protest at Sutarkandi Border
A newly floated organisation, “Sanatani Oikya Mancha”, has called for the cry “Chalo Bangladesh” voicing their opinions against the torture of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh and the silence of the interim government led by Muhammud Yunus. The organisation has spread their wings in Cachar, Sribhumi, Hailakandi and Dima Hasao. In a press meet today in Silchar’s Gobinda Bari in Ashram Road, the organisation has revealed that they will storm the Sutarkandi Land Border in Sribhumi with more than 1 lakh Sanatanis of Southern Assam on December 1. Expressing their solidarity with the Hindus and Bangladesh and voicing their opposition to their persecution, the organisation has sought the attention of international organisations including the United Nations into the matter in the neighbouring country.
Following the students’ movement in Bangladesh and the throwing of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, the unrest has increased in the country. While some Bangladeshi media maintains that the persecution of minorities is a conspiracy against the interim government, the Ministry of External Affairs has condemned the attacks and asked for immediate action of the interim government. The interim government has not responded to any of the allegations of attack, rather had a battle of words with India for “interference” in its “internal affairs”.
Sanatani Oikya Mancha comprises members of various right-wing leaning groups including Vishva Hindu Parishad, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Bajrang Dal and the like. The founding members of the group include Santanu Nayak, Rajib Nath, Mukta Chakraborty, Dharmnanda Deb, Saumitra Dutta Roy, Ratan Das, Mithun Nath and others. The members of the organisation have also demanded a separate country for Hindu Minorities of Bangladesh and boycott Bangladesh-made items. The organisation has also vouched to make a stop to the trade between India and Bangladesh.
A spokesperson for the Mancha today (November 28) said, “The attack on our ISKCON monk (Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari) is deliberate as the FIR was filed in Chottogram by a BNP (Bangladesh Nationalist Party) member and the grounds of the FIR are also very politically motivated. We want a condition-free release of the monk”.
The organisation member also said that a memorandum to the Governor of Assam, the United Nations, the Government of Bangladesh, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh and the Prime Minister of India will be sent via the District Commissioner of Sribhumi district on November 30. This day will also mark the announcement of the demonstration that will be held at 11:30 AM on Sunday, December 1.
