CM Sonowal announces ex-gratia Rs 5 lakh for Assam resident “ABDUCTED BY THE MISCREANTS” from Cachar
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s office has issued a press statement after the barbaric abduction of Cachar resident Intiaz Ali (also known as Intazul Laskar). Intazul Laskar was declared dead by Kolasib SP earlier today. He had gone missing yesterday. An image had gone viral on WhatsApp where Laskar’s body was deformed and he seemed to have been brutally beaten.
Cachar SP informed that he was arrested by Mizoram Police, however, the crime was unknown to him. On social media, the Mizos claimed that Laskar was trying to smuggle heroin into Mizoram and that is why he was caught by the public and handed over to Mizoram’s excise department.
Department of Excise, Government of Mizoram’s Commissioner & Secretary K.T. Beicho, IRAS, while speaking with Barak Bulletin said he was not aware of any such arrest as he is in Aizawl.
And now, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has put an end to the speculation. He expressed his condolences over the death of Intazul Laskar (Intiaz Ali). The language of the press statement makes it clear what the CM thinks about the incident. “Intazul Laskar who was abducted by the miscreants from Lailapur Border Outpost area of Cachar district along Assam-Mizoram border”- this is how the CM explained the incident.
Sonowal also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to the next of the kin of deceased.
The press statement adds, “It may be noted that following the sequel of boundary rows along Assam-Mizoram border, Chief Minister Sonowal sent the details of the incidents to Union Home Minister Amit Shah today. He at the same time asked Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua and DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta to rush to the area and take stock of the situation.”
“Chief Minister Sonowal also talked to Deputy Commissioner, Cachar district Keerthi Jalli and took stock of the prevailing situation,” shared the statement.
Chief Minister while expressing his concern over the boundary row asked the police to remain alert and thwart all design that has the potential to vitiate peace and order along the border.
