CM’s Appeal Takes a Formal Turn: Municipality urges Vendors to Temporarily Halt Non-Veg Sales on Pran Pratishtha Day

Silchar Municipal Board issues an official notice, aligning with the earlier request made by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. The notice urges vendors in Silchar to refrain from selling fish, meat, and other non-vegetarian items, adding a formal tone to the initial appeal.

While the term “request” is utilized in the notice, the official nature of the communication adds a different dimension. The question arises: Is this the onset of a new era in Hindustan? Could it potentially lead to the establishment of a religious hegemony? challenging the foundations of our constitutional principles that define our diverse nation?

The notice from the Silchar Municipal Board states, “In pursuance to the Govt. instruction, all owners of restaurants and hotels within Silchar Municipal jurisdiction are hereby requested not to sell/serve non-veg items until 4 P.M. on 22/01/2024.”

Furthermore, the notice extends to shop owners in specific markets, such as Fatak Bazar, New Market, Itkhola Market, Satsanga Nagar Market, National Highway Market, Rangirkhari Market, and more. It explicitly calls on them, along with roadside vendors, to avoid selling fish, meat, duck, fowl, and other related items on January 22 until 4 P.M.

What initially seemed like a personal request from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has now taken on an official character with this notice. While it currently remains a request with an official backing, the question looms – what might be the next step? Could the nation be undergoing a transformation towards religious hegemony? Only time will reveal the unfolding narrative.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday, during a press conference requested vendors to avoid selling of non vegetarian items on the day of the Pran Pratishtha till 4pm. This notice by the municipality board goes along with CM’s appeal.
