Congress conducts silent satyagraha in Silchar demanding justice for Rahul Gandhi
In a remarkable display of solidarity and protest, members of the Barak Congress launched a silent satyagraha today at the Silchar District Congress office. The satyagraha, which commenced in the morning and will persist until 5 pm, seeks to shed light on the alleged injustices faced by Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Congress party. Pradesh Congress President Bhupen Bora also participated in the satyagraha, underscoring the party’s unwavering commitment to pursuing justice.
Donning black cloth masks to symbolise their dissent, Congress workers congregated in large numbers to express their dissatisfaction with what they perceive as the mistreatment of Rahul Gandhi. The demonstration commenced with a solemn homage to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the revered father of the Indian nation and a symbol of nonviolent resistance.
Addressing reporters, APCC President Bhupen Bora stated, “In alignment with the rest of the country, the Assam Pradesh Congress is organising a silent satyagraha in the state, including the three districts of Barak Valley. Our leader Rahul Gandhi was disqualified as a Lok Sabha MP and sentenced to two years of imprisonment merely for highlighting the threats to democracy in India and the alleged corruption of the Modi government on the parliament floor.”
He added, “This conspiracy was orchestrated by the BJP to instill fear in Congress workers, preventing them from speaking the truth. As Congress workers, we pledge to advocate for the people and uphold democracy in India.”
