Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi’s convoy meets with accident at Mahasadak, Five Congress workers sustain minor injuries
Kaliabor Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, along with the National President of Indian Youth Congress, Srinivas BV, arrived in Silchar today to participate in various party programmes organised in the city. Their arrival at the Silchar Kumbhirgram airport was warmly welcomed by enthusiastic Congress workers from the region.
However, what was intended to be a celebratory arrival took a sudden turn when an unfortunate mishap occurred during the convoy’s journey to the Congress Bhavan, located in the heart of the city. As the convoy, consisting of approximately 100 vehicles, was en route to their destination, a driver of a Thar SUV belonging to the convoy abruptly applied the brakes as they reached Moinarband bridge located on the Mahasadak.
This unexpected maneuver created a domino effect, causing five other vehicles following the Thar to dash with one another. The mass collision resulted in minor injuries to five Congress workers, including women. Notably, one of the damaged vehicles belonged to former Congress Minister Ajit Singh. Fortunately, MP Gaurav Gogoi emerged to be out of harm’s way as his vehicle was positioned in the beginning of the convoy.
The Udharbond Police was promptly informed after the incident and they swiftly arrived at the scene. The damaged vehicles were subsequently transported to the Police Station.
The incident serves as a reminder of the need for cautious driving and vigilance on the road, even during celebratory events.
