Covishield will be available at 4 centres in Silchar, Covaxin 2nd dose in 3: Here is the new vaccination schedule

The Health Department of Cachar has informed that starting from tomorrow, i.e, July 2, Covaxin and Covishield vaccines will be inoculated at designated sites of the Silchar urban area.

Covaxin will be administered at three vaccination sites whereas Covishield will be inoculated at four designated sites in Silchar. This urban vaccination drive will take place in Silchar on July 2, 3 and 5, as mentioned in the official notice of the health department.

The three centres where Covaxin second doses will be available are – Nazirpatty Model Primary, Trunk Road Urban Primary Health Care Centre and Durga Shankar Pathshala in Ambicapatty. Each centre will inoculate 250 doses. Out of them, 247 doses will be assigned to the beneficiaries who have booked their slots online and 3 in each centre will be kept reserved for on-spot registration.

The four centres where Covishield will be available are – BC Roy Memorial School in Rongpur, Sri Sri Radha Raman Goswami High School, Malugram, TT College near Link Road and Haji Koramtollah Pathshala in Water Works Road, Silchar. Each centre will inoculate 200 doses to the beneficiaries.

No pre-registration is required for Covishield beneficiaries. Anybody can register on the spot and get their doses and must carry an age-proof with them. The vaccination is open to all above 18 years old.

It is worth mentioning here that the disruption in the Covishield supply had forced the Cachar administration to slow down the vaccination drive. Many beneficiaries were returned from the centres. Yesterday, a chaotic situation broke at the BC Roy centre in Rongpur where angry locals blocked the road. Police, magistrates had to intervene in order to free the road and bring the situation under control.
