Assam University’s Department of Mass Communication Student, Siddharth Mala was on his way to his home in Dorgakona from Silchar. He was working on a project and so, had to leave his peer’s house late at night.

At around 2:00 am, when he was in Silcoorie area, near Baram Baba temple, he got chased down by a Maruti Suzuki Alto bearing registration number that starts with ML. Alto overtook the Celerio which Mala was driving and stopped right in front of his car.

“Maruti Suzuki car (with registration number of Meghalaya) chased my car from near National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar and at an area near Bariknagar, they overtook my car and stopped it in front of my car. Two masked man rushed out of the car and attacked my car. They used some sharp object to break the window glasses of my car and used some spray on my face,” stated Mala in his FIR lodged at Gunghoor Police Station.

“They punched on my neck, dragged me out of my car and pushed me near the road. They were speaking in local Sylheti language and used slang words as well,” he added.

Mala was left unconscious next to the road and when he gained his senses, he found his car, smartphone, wallet with some cash are all missing from his possession.

The matter was brought to the notice of Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Numal Mahatta who said that he will look into the subject. However, it is worth mentioning here that the Police is yet to recover the car or provide an update on the investigation.
