A day labourer in Saidpur, Sonai was found dead today afternoon. The deceased, identified as Kamal Roy of Saidpur, died by falling down from a tree while cutting it down. He was a day labourer in Sonai and the bread earner in his family, who had expertise in the axing of trees. The unfortunate incident took place today afternoon at Saidpur Part IV, Sonai of Cachar district.

Kamal Roy (Bundul), a resisdent of Saidpur, worked as a day labourer who was known for his tree-felling skills. Amala Dey, a widowed resident of Saidpur Part IV recently sold a tree that belonged to her to a man named Karim Uddin, who is a resident of Saidpur Part V. Karim Uddin hired three everyday workers, including Kamal Roy, to cut down the tree he bought. Today, around 1 in the noon, Kamal Roy went up to the top of the tree to start the cutting process, and as he cut off a branch, the branch stumbled down the tree, giving the tree a hefty shake, which disbalanced Kamal and he collapsed on the ground and was dead on the spot.

The news of this mishap spread throughout the locality soon after and the former president Afzal Hussain Laskar arrived at the location to pay his condolences. The police was informed of this incident and this news traversed through social media in the meantime.

Kamal Roy was a family man who had a wife and children. He was a skilled tree-cutter and worked as a day labourer in Saidpur, Sonai. This was an unfortunate accident and has brought a great deal of sorrow for his family.
