Purkayastha was also associated with Barak Bulletin and played a pivotal role in making the publication one of the most read ones in Northeast.

Speaking with Barak Bulletin, Purkayastha said, “Running behind stories in rural part of Barak Valley is my favourite part of being a journalist. There are unreported stories across this Valley, and I believe, I’ll keep searching for that for many years to come. This recognition is a token of love to the journalists working from grassroots in rural part of Barak Valley and I thank JAFA for recognising this.”

He added, “I am thankful to the entire team of Dainik Prantajyoti for allowing me to write important stories representing common people. My special thanks to Niloy Paul and Ratnadip Deb.”

It is worth mentioning here that JAFA had conferred Niloy Paul of Prantojyoti with the young editor award in 2021.
