In a shocking daylight robbery, a group of four armed miscreants looted Rs. 13 lakh from a Mizoram-based businessman near Bhaga Bazar. On Saturday (March 23) morning when the Mizoram local was on his way back home, he was allegedly attacked by 4 miscreants. As per the victim, the robbers stopped his vehicle, threatened him with sharp weapons, and fled with the cash.

According to police sources, Lalramzuala, a resident of Champhai in Mizoram, had come to Bhaga Bazar to sell ginger. After completing his business on Saturday morning, he was heading back to Mizoram with Rs. 13 lakh in cash when a four-wheeler overtook him near New Market, just beyond Bhaga Bazar. The vehicle blocked his path, forcing him to stop.

Tajuddin Laskar, a local businessman who later helped lodge the complaint, recounted the incident: “After making him stop, four men rushed towards his car and forcibly took the money at knifepoint.”

Upon receiving the complaint, the police launched an immediate investigation and tracked the getaway vehicle to Sabaspur, near Rahim-er Dukan in the Silchar Sadar police station area. However, by the time they reached the location, the suspects had already fled after reportedly hearing police sirens.

An FIR has been registered at Dholai police station, and an extensive search is underway to nab the culprits. Police have assured swift action in the case.
