DC Barnali Sharma meets bank managers; Gun license, micro finance, government schemes discussed
Cachar Deputy Commissioner, Barnali Sharma, on Monday held a meeting with all the Bank Managers of the district at the conference hall of Deputy commissioner’s office. Deputy Commissioner presided over the meeting; at the outset an introduction session with all the members was held by the Deputy Commissioner.
The Deputy Commissioner sought for the status of all the banks regarding government schemes, especially tea garden related issues in respect of opening of bank accounts.
During the meeting, it was informed by the Lead District Manager of UBI Cachar that all the workers of the tea gardens have been covered and individual Bank accounts have already been opened. Barnali Sharma requested the LDM ,UBI Cachar to submit the status of the Patichera, Dolugram and Bhuban valley tea gardens within three days and she suggested for awareness campaigns to be conducted in totally digitized system where transparency in transferring of account should be maintained.
The Deputy commissioner Cachar however expressed her dissatisfaction over the submission of CD ratio as 40:23 by the LDM ,UBI Cachar for the month of September,2019. Credit-deposit ratio, popularly CD ratio, is the ratio of how much a bank lends out of the deposits it has mobilized.
The Deputy Commissioner urged that the difference between the state and District CD ratio should be minimised. She appreciated the banks Bandhan, IndusInd Bank and HDFC bank for obtaining such a high CD ratio. She also suggested that they should maintain proper checks regarding any fraud.
While discussing on micro finance the Deputy commissioner Cachar suggested for proper survey of the approaching beneficiaries and awareness to be generated amongst them and in addition she also suggested that the local language Bengali to be used in IEC materials for better and easy interaction with beneficiaries of all the banks.
Deputy Commissioner also urged for submission of status on gun license/renewal etc for immediate redressal from her end.
District development Commissioner Jessica Lalsim, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Rupali Pegu, Assistant planning officer Sangita Gupta also attended the meeting.
