DC chairs meeting to ensure a safe Eid; helmet made compulsory
The deputy commissioner of Cachar Laya Madduri on Thursday chaired a meeting at the conference hall in DC Office.
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss how the administration can ensure a peaceful observation of the forthcoming festival Eid-ul-Fitar. Additional SP, Cachar Gourav Agarwal, ADC J.R.Lalsim, assistant commissioners Maria Tanim, Nabneeta Hazarkia. Apart from the government officials eminent personalities from the Muslim community including presidents of important Masjid committees also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the members of the Masjid committee and other intellectuals shared their concern that on the festival day, due to rash driving by youngsters on two-wheelers many mishaps occurred in the past years. They requested the administration to take adequate measures in order to avoid unfortunate accidents. The administration taking the concern seriously passed a resolution that not more than 2 persons would be allowed to ride on motorcycles and helmets must be used invariably. To enforce this, it was decided that police will strengthen checking and impose fines on the violation.
The deputy commissioner also informed that APDCL has been instructed to provide uninterrupted power supply during the festival time. The PHE has also been instructed to ensure to provide adequate water supply. Laya Madduri conveying her best wishes to the people of the district requested the mass to exhibit brotherhood among the communities through this holy festival.
Additional SP Agarwal informed that sufficient security measures would be taken up to thwart any untoward incidents during the festival.
