A tragic accident occurred on the 306 National Highway in Kabuganj, Cachar district, leaving two children and six others injured, with three individuals reported to be in critical condition. The accident, which took place in front of the Durga Mandap near Janata College, has shocked the local community.

The incident unfolded on the busy 306 National Highway, a vital route connecting Silchar to Aizawl. It involved a head-on collision between an overloaded autorickshaw and a speeding motorcycle, resulting in a devastating impact. The motorcycle, a KTM bearing registration number AS11 Z 1149, was traveling from Silchar to Kabuganj, while the autorickshaw, with registration number AS 11 AC 3258, was heading in the opposite direction.

Eyewitnesses at the scene described the harrowing moments following the collision. The motorcycle lost control and veered off the road, while the autorickshaw toppled and rolled on the highway, causing a chaotic and distressing scene.

The accident occurred around 9:45 pm on Friday, leaving local residents stunned and concerned for the injured. Authorities from the Sonai Police Station quickly responded to the incident. The officer in charge led a team of police officials to the scene and managed the recovery of both vehicles involved in the accident.

Among those injured, the two individuals on the motorcycle and the autorickshaw’s driver have been diagnosed as being in critical condition, requiring immediate medical attention. The gravity of their injuries has added to the somber mood in the Kabuganj area.

Furthermore, the delay in the arrival of a 108 emergency ambulance to attend to the wounded triggered a reaction from the locals. In response to the delay, community members decided to transport the injured to the hospital in private vehicles. When the 108 Ambulance finally arrived, it was met with questions and criticism from the community for the delay in their response.

The situation took a concerning turn, with locals engaging in a heated argument with the 108 ambulance staff. To diffuse the tension, the Officer in Charge of the Police Station intervened, helping to restore order and ensure that the wounded individuals received the necessary medical care.
