Death number increases again in Silchar; Cases drop further to 54
On the 29th of January, Cachar has reported 54 fresh COVID cases, according to the media bulletin published by National Health Mission, Assam. 12 cases were recorded on RTPCR while 42 of the 54 were recorded on the Antigen Test. The total number of cases recorded in the state today stands at 2294, according to the bulletin. Neighbouring districts, Hailakandi and Karimganj recorded 19 and 31 cases respectively. The NHM Bulletin also stated two deaths in the district today.
The Silchar Medical College and Hospital’s Media Bulletin reported 26 fresh COVID cases on the 29th of January. Currently there are 16 active COVID patients in the Medical College undergoing treatment. 6 patients are on Ventilator and 11 on Oxygen support. 2 patients were newly admitted to the hospital today while no one got discharged.
In the last 24 hours, three patients were declared dead by the hospital, the bulletin stated. 55 year old Ruksana Begum Laskar, a resident of Sonabarighat, Cachar died on 28th January at 7:30 P.M of uremic encephalopathy. She was also suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease.
Abdul Rahman Laskar, 50 years old, was declared dead on 28th of January at 3:30 P.M. He had been admitted to the hospital on 24th of January. He had fluid in his lungs and was also affected by pneumonia.
Biswajit Tantubai, a resident of Dolu Tea Estate in Cachar, passed away on 28th January at 9:30 P.M. He had been admitted on the same day at 12:55 P.M.
Cause of death was reported as a stroke. He was also suffering from rheumatic heart disease and wet lung.
According to the National Health Mission Assam’s Media Bulletin, there were 272 positive cases on 21st January, which came down to 198 on the 22nd and 77 on 23rd. But on the 24th the positive cases went up again to 172, on 25th the number stood at 119 and on 27th the cases were at 65. Yesterday the number stood at 75 and today it came down to 54 fresh COVID cases. Even though the state has reported a very high number of fresh COVID cases today, in Cachar the trend seems to be lowering gradually. So far, 1,53,101 people have been jabbed with precautionary doses in the state.
